Anne Arundel County police officers were called to the area of Governor Ritchie Highway and Fitzallen Road around 4:30 a.m., Friday, April 14 for reports of a single-vehicle crash.

By the time police arrived at the scene, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 18-year-old Andreas Diego Eduardo Ballesteros, had fled on foot.

A short time later police were contacted by a victim that claimed someone had just attempted to steal their vehicle in the 1000 block of Fitzallen Road.

While an additional officer headed toward Fitzallen Road, investigators determined that the crashed vehicle had been stolen from the 1200 block of Crawford Drive just before the crash.

Officers were able to locate the suspect, who took off on foot again before trying to steal a third vehicle in the 900 block of Edgerly Road.

Police were able to make contact with Ballesteros and take him into custody a short time later.
